SAI Assistant Coach Eligibility Criteria 2026
Age Limit (as on application start date)
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- SC / ST: 5 Years Relaxation
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years Relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen & Departmental Candidates: As per Government norms
- SAI Contractual Employees: Relaxation equal to service period (minimum 1 year)
Educational / Professional Qualification
Candidates must possess any one of the following:
- Diploma in Coaching from SAI NS-NIS Patiala or a recognized Indian/Foreign institute
- Participation in Olympic / Asian Games / World Championship with Certificate Course in Coaching
- Dronacharya Award recipient
Note: Equivalent qualifications from LNIPE, NSU, SGSU, and other approved institutions are acceptable as per notification.
SAI Assistant Coach Selection Process
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) – 40%
- Mode: Online
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Total Questions: 100 MCQs
- Negative Marking: 0.25 mark for each wrong answer
- Syllabus: Sports Knowledge, Sports Science, Reasoning, General Awareness
Stage 2: Coaching Ability Test (CAT) – 60%
- Shortlisting Ratio: 1:3
- Practical assessment of coaching fundamentals and athlete management
- Total 40 evaluation parameters
Final Merit List will be prepared based on combined CBT and CAT scores.
